The Best Oreo & Mint Ice Cream Fudge Sundae Dessert

Grandma’s Ice Cream Fudge Sundae Dessert is truly a staple in our household. My husband’s family grew up on this one, and I am fortunate enough to have married into a family with such great taste in desserts.

What You Need For Ice Cream Fudge Sundae Dessert

Supplies Needed:
*9×13″ pan
*Food processor (to crush your Oreos)
*Mixing bowl
*Sauce pan
*Whisk & wooden spoon

Ingredients:
*Oreos
*Butter/Margarine
*Ice Cream (Mint Chocolate is best)
*Evaporated Milk
*Unsweetened Chocolate
*Sugar
*Whipped Cream (Cool Whip freezes better than homemade, but both are delicious!)
*Nuts (optional)

Note: You will want to thaw the Ice Cream Fudge Sundae Dessert for approximately 10-15 minutes before serving, so it is easier to slice and eat.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. or 25 Oreos, crushed, plus more for topping
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 gal. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream
  • 12 oz. evaporated milk (1 large can)
  • 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, sliced or cubed
  • Whipped cream (1 container of Cool Whip or equivalent)
  • Chopped nuts (optional)

Steps

Mix melted butter and crushed Oreos, then press into a 9×13″ pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes. Chill in freezer.

Once chilled, scoop (or slice) ice cream and lay on top of Oreo mixture. Smooth the layer, then freeze.

In a medium-sized saucepan, whisk together evaporated milk, sugar, and chocolate and cook until completely melted. Add 1/2 cup of butter and boil for 8 minutes, whisking continuously. Let cool.

Pour fudge over layer of ice cream, then freeze.

Once frozen, spread Cool Whip across the layer of fudge. Top with chopped nuts or crushed Oreos. Freeze until ready to serve.Ice Cream Fudge Sundae Dessert ready to serve!

Note from Grandma: This will keep in the freezer for quite a while (unless the kids find it!).
